Pro Bowl Receiver Shows His Giving Side
The event, which was sponsored by The Andre Johnson Foundation, gave 12 kids, ages 8-to-16 the opportunity to go on a shopping spree second to none, and they only had 80 seconds (Johnson wears No. 80) to do it.
The kids, who were selected by Child Protective Services ran as fast as they could with their baskets and filled them with the latest, top-selling toys and games. Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and Barbie were the favorites amongst the girls, while the boys were into electronics, board games, and action figures.
To throw in a little twist, all children had to take the “How well do you know Andre Johnson” quiz before the race began. The child with the most correct answers got to go on an additional 80 second shopping spree.
“Most of these kids have never experienced shopping like this before,” Texans wide receiver Johnson said. “This event is about helping someone else.”
“It’s important for them to know there are people out there like me who care. Being able to take them on this shopping spree has become the highlight of my life.”
Johnson’s bill at ToysRus totalled a cool $16,000.00.
