HOUSTON — The Texas Southern Lady Tigers opened the women’s basketball exhibition season with a win over the Houston Jaguars at the Health & Physical Education Arena.
The team also hosted a Carnival for kids on Halloween night after the game.
The Lady Tigers will open the regular season at home on Friday playing host to Louisiana-Lafayette University at 7:00 p.m. TSU will also play three other home games at Houston on Dec. 5th, and play host to Texas-Pan American on Dec. 18th and Sam Houston State on Dec. 20th.
The Houston Lady Cougars basketball team will play an exhibition game on Monday against the Houston Jaguars at 2:00 p.m. They will open the regular season on Friday and Saturday as they play back-to-back home games against Southeastern Louisiana at 5:30 p.m. and Gardner-Webb at 12 noon.
Both games will be at Hofheinz Pavilion. Houston will also play home games on Friday, Nov. 21st vs. Miami, Dec. 5th vs. TSU, Dec. 14th vs. Cal-Poly, and Dec. 28th vs. Akron.
After playing an exhibition game against Paul Quinn, the Texas Southern men’s basketball team under new head coach Tony Harvey will take to the road for an 11-game stretch.
The stretch of games include stops to: UTEP, Cincinnati, Northern Iowa, Marquette, Chicago,Ill.,Arkansas, Washington, Texas, Gonzaga, Idaho, and Air Force. The Tigers will play their only home game of the season on December 27th vs. Portland State.
The Rice Lady Owls opened the season with an 81-56 exhibition win against Houston Baptist University. They will christen Tudor Fieldhouse with a four-game homestand against Cal State Northridge on Friday, Prairie View on Nov. 19th, Baylor on Nov. 23rd and Furman on Nov. 25th.
The Lady Owls will also play host to UCLA on December 17th.
Tickets are now on sale for the College Holiday Classic set for December 20th at the Toyota Center. The game will feature a double-header with the Texas Longhorns taking on the Michigan State Spartans and the Texas A&M Aggies vs. the LSU Tigers.
The Lady Gators women’s basketball team began the season this weekend by hosting the San Jacinto Classic. The four games will feature Blinn vs. Collin County and San Jacinto vs. Fort Scott.
