A Talented Scholar-Athlete
CALIFORNIA — Morian Walker Jr., a student of Washington Open Elementary School located in Santa Clara, is an exceptional 9 1/2 year old student talented athlete of Santa ClaraCounty.
Morian Jr. is a member of the Umoja Track Team of Santa Clara, coached by Burnett Lux. He’s been training for two years to fulfill his dream of becoming a member of the United States Track & Field Junior Olympic Team and to compete in the Hershey Track and Field Games North American Final.
Morian trains five days a week for 2 1/2 hours each day. Work outs includes power, agility, speed and conditioning. On Saturday, Morian’s workout schedule is 9:00am – 12:00Noon for hill running, tempo runs and general strength training for improved performance.
Morian has managed to maintain good grades in school, while maintaining his tutoring schedule in Math and Reading. Morian has dedicated himself to his education and sports and has achieved great results.
He’s a natural athlete who excel in most sports.
On Thursday evening, July 10, Walker received a call from the Northern, California Hershey State Representative, extending a warm welcome to Hershey Track & Field Games!! Hershey Track & Field North American Final is an all expense paid event held in Hershey, Pennsylvania from July 31-August 3.
Morian will represent Region 2- Pacific Southwest (Arizona; California; Hawaii; Nevada; Utah).He will participate in the 4×100 Relay event and have an awesome time in visiting Hershey’s Chocolate World, Hershey Park Entertainment Complex, the tour of the Hershey Plant and many other exciting events!
This past Sunday, Morian’s dream came true, as he received honors to join the United States Track & Field Junior Olympic Team, where he will participate in championship games held in Omaha, NE from July 22-27.
Morian will compete in the 4×100 and 4×400 Meter Relay events.
