READ ALL ABOUT IT Dixon GOES TO TOP OF HEISMAN WATCH LIST

Dixon GO DENNIS GO

YES YES YES

it’s true after another

Spectacular Performance

Oregon Ducks Quarterback

Dennis Dixon is #1

In the most widely recognized list of Heisman Hopefuls. USAToday’s List. Dixon knocked off Boston College Golden Boy QB Matt Ryan who has topped the List much of the Season. That was until Boston College formerly rated #2 was Upset by Florida State and Ryan “struggled.”

Well Dennis Dixon definitely did not struggle last Saturday against previously unbeaten Arizona State as he led make that LED the Oregon Ducks to a Big Win 35-23 over Arizona State. As USA Today notes “Dixon has thrown for more than 2,000 yards and run for more than 500 yards on the season as the 8-1 Ducks.”

Dixon has literally come out of nowhere. He was on no one’s pre-season list of possible Heisman winners. Now he is the player to beat with two BIG caveats. If you assume the Heisman voting system is fair and that there is NO bias against African Americans especially Quarterbacks in the voting. Both points are open to wide debate.

Yes Troy Smith Black Quarterback won the last Heisman but in his case he was Quarterback for the #1 team in the nation in the Polls. That is always the “default” selection for the Heisman if no other player is absolutely overwhelming – pick the Starting Quarterback on the #1 rated team in the nation.

While there is a very outside possibility The Oregon Ducks rated #3 at 8-1 with three games left could miraculously still finish #1 in the Polls it is highly unlikely. Their real dream is to bump up to #2 and make it to the BCS Championship Game and claim the National Title with a win most over likely Ohio State possibly LSU.

Back to Dixon here are his exact stats. 2074 yards passing for 20 TDs and 549 yards running for 8 TDs. Which equals 28 total TDs and 2623 total yards. Doing some non-computerized projections for Dixon to win he needs three more stellar regular season victories that would likely bring his totals up to close to 3500 total yards and 37 or more total TDs. THOSE ARE HEISMAN NUMBERS.

Good for Dennis Dixon and a minor injury at the end of last Saturday’s game the Ducks have time to rest not playing this Saturday before they finish up against Arizona, then UCLA and finally Oregon State. Unfortunately none of those three games will play on national TV on the major networks but you can find them.

There is not much more to say and it is getting late ( writing the Box ) PRAY for Dennis Dixon no doubt about it none at all Dixon winning the Heisman would be BEST of all nothing quite beats the Unexpected or Black Quarterbacks winning the Heisman
