Asterisk What A Story

Asterisk WHAT A STORY Mecho THE NEW PUBLIC SPIRITED OWNER

Can you believe this

what a turn of events

once again Reality

stranger than Fiction

No matter what side of the Barry Bonds controversy – or rather what controversy he used STEROIDS – anyway let’s make believe and call it a “controversy.” Either way this is something else even if in the larger scheme of Life it is simply a footnote to the Sport of Baseball. Or rather an Asterisk !

And the central figure

is not Barry call him

a supporting actor or

an ASTERISK !

It is all about Marc Ecko. What a freaking GENIUS ! This guy is Brilliant. !! Of course he need to be RICH to be Brilliant here but this is an example of why he is RICH. He is an Original Thinker. Ecko has taken Barry Bonds 756th HomeRun Ball and made a piece of Baseball memorabilia into Something Else.

Call it a Philosophical Statement

about Reality and other things

In case you haven’t heard yet Marc Ecko won the bidding war to buy the famous or infamous as you prefer 756th HomeRun Ball from the lucky kid who caught it, bidding in the on-line auction $ 752,467. The assumption was that the winner typically would keep it in his private collection, put it on public display or simply donate it to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

not GENIUS Marc Ecko

He decided – obviously pre-decided why he would bid and what he would do which was highly unconventional. Create a Website and let anyone who wanted to vote on what to do with the 756th Ball. Offering 3 choices. …..

Donate it to the Hall as is

Launch it into Outer Space

Donate it to the Hall with one

Big ASTERISK on it

According to Ecko he received 10 million votes and the clear winner was to send it to the Hall of Fame with a giant ASTERISK printed on it.

WOW ! At least this time score one for human intelligence so often in very short supply.

The president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame has already told Ecko they will be delighted to accept the gift of the Ball with the permanent Asterisk printed on it. Dale Petroskey really did not have any other good choices with millions of fans voting in favor of just that. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to attract Baseball Fans not discourage them from coming.

Of course another FASCINATING element here is that the 756th HR Ball is going to become far more famous because of the ASTERISK and get Bonds even more continuing Fame which he obviously Craves if not this very specific form of Fame. Still Barry your Ball will be Very Famous. indeed. Unique.

Barry will certainly not be unhappy the way blasting the Ball into Space would have made him as he clearly stated. And in fact that would have been the worst fate of all for him. But just as much had that Ball gone to Cooperstown to be on display forever and appeared to have the same status as Hank Aaron’s 755th HomeRun Ball that would have been an even Bigger Outrage.

BRANDING the Ball

but putting it on display forever

in the Baseball Hall of Fame

is a perfect “compromise and

Marc Ecko is a GENIUS

if this makes him even

Richer he deserve it.

he let the people

decide

BRAVO !
