MIKE CAMERON DRIVES PADRES INTO PLAYOFFS ONE OF 2 MIKES WHO LEFT NYC FOR NEW LIFE WEST COAST

POSING FOR THE FANS

It was only

One Game and One HomeRun

but What a Game and What a HomeRun

Mike Cameron’s 5th inning HomeRun Saturday against Arizona gave San Diego a 3-1 Victory but so much more when he crushed a curve ball 455 ft. into the left field stands. It guaranteed the Padres a slot in the Playoffs as they battle Los Angeles into the final regular game of the season Sunday for each as both eliminated Philadelphia and now they fight for First Place in the West.

Whether the Padres finish 1st or 2nd one of the key players who will lead San Diego in it quest for a World Championship is Mike Cameron. Both Cameron and Mike Piazza the 2 notable New York Mets cast offs from last season who have found New Life down at the southern tip of the West Coast. Cameron 5 years Piazza’s junior is making $7+ million to Piazza’s ‘paltry’ $1+Million.

Their Season Stats playing for San Diego are unusually similar as each has played a significant role in the Padres fortunes this season. Cameron batting .268 to Piazza’s .281. Cameron 22 HomeRuns Piazza 22 HomeRuns. Cameron 83 RBIs Piazza 67 RBIs. On Base Percentage Cameron .355 Piazza .340. Slugging Percentage Cameron .482 Piazza .496. Damn similar. As for Saturday afternoon’s game Cameron was the Hero while Piazza did not play. At all.

Whether or not San Diego plays the New York Mets in the First Round remains to be decided Sunday afternoon. If they do Open in New York Tuesday evening be sure one of the story lines that will Play Big will be the return of The Two Mikes to Shea. As for the future Mike Cameron is certain to be back in 2007 no matter the results for San Diego in October. As for The Other Mike no word from the Padres yet IF they will pick up his option for another year but it sure is likely. Piazza will make it a NO Brainer IF he has a Great Post-Season.

Should the Padres knock off

The New York Mets

in the First Round or

the Nationals League

Championship to follow

expect Big Things from

The Two Mikes to

get them that far even

all the Way to a

San Diego vs. Oakland

World Series how

unlikely is that

Very

( and Bud Selig’s Worst 2006 Nightmare )
