And Then There Was One 1975-2006

AND THEN THERE WAS JUST ONE 1975 – 2006 NO PROGRESS AT ALL IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES AFTER 31 YEARS AGAIN ONE BLACK MANAGER

DUSTY BAKER ISN’T SMILING NOW

It is Apocryphal

as well as True

what most Embittered

Jackie Robinson

after his playing days

he was never allowed

to Manage in the Majors

( are you listening Rachel )

Robinson knew that was the next barrier in Baseball that had no right to exist, and he mistakenly believed that Baseball would allow him to take his Greatness on the Diamond to a Higher Level. Of course not it never happened. Black “laborers” are one thing managers or God Forbid owners are not.

Another one of those

Ironies of Ironies

then add another

It was not until 1975 that the Great Frank ROBINSON became the very first African American Manager in Major League Baseball history at the age of 39. In fact one of the very rare Player Managers. Now in 2006 it is the very same Frank Robinson fired as Manager oh excuse us “let go” by the Washington Nationals who – along with the “firing” oh excuse us the Chicago Cubs “letting go” Dusty Baker Monday that REDUCES Major League Baseball 31 years later to exactly ONE African American Manager again the very same number of African American Managers back in 1975 when Robinson was first hired.

While all the Attention has

been on African American players

Disappearing from Baseball

If anything it is worse for African American Managers. With the exception of Willie Randolph and the New York Mets and the expectation if not the Reality that Willie will be around for awhile, if not for Willie we would be Pre-1975. It is very very unlikely any other African American is going to get a job managing a Major League team anytime soon. If ever again.

That is how BAD it has gotten

Now how can that be. In 2006 the prospects for Black Manages in Baseball is worse than those prospects for the future appeared in 1975 with Frank Robinson becoming a Manager and the expectation he would be the first heralding a new era in Baseball when it would become common to see African American managers by the 21st century. But the reverse is True.

Whose definition of Progress is that ???

Making it even Worse

Bud Selig and the Boys

are doing Nothing

( hey Rachel are you listening )

THINK ABOUT THIS PLEASE. All the Stupid Reporters who let Bud Selig cultivate an image of bering “concerned” about African Americans in Baseball. Even quoted as saying again and again his number one goal is bringing more African Americans back into Baseball.

BUD SELIG IS CON ARTIST AND A LIAR. Nothing proves it more that Baseball unlike the NFL is doing nothing not even Lip Service as does the NFL about increasing the number of Managers. Because Bud Selig does not care and on top if that the 30 White Owners are more out of touch than even the 32 NFL owners and don’t want to be bothered being forced to go thorough meaningless “show” interviews with African Americans they will never hire.

Wait for Bud Selig’s

Official Statement of

Concern & Action

in the wake of 2 of 3

African American Managers

being “let go” and his determination

to insure more Black Managers

you will wait a very very

very very long time

Eternity
