Former NFL Player To Give Keynote Address At SIAC Kickoff Luncheon
TUCKER, Ga. — Former New York Giant and current NFL free agent Chuck Wiley will give the key note speech at the SIAC’s 2006 Kick-off Luncheon on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Atlanta Marriott NW.
Wiley was the Carolina Panthers’ third round pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. He quickly became the starting defensive end during the pre-season training camp before an injury shortened that season.
Wiley went on to play eight years in the NFL compiling stats and rushing quarterbacks for 4 NFL teams in the process. He played for the Carolina Panthers from 1998-2000, Atlanta Falcons (00-01), Minnesota Vikings (‘02-04), and one season with the NY Giants (‘04) before another injury ended that season.
Wiley currently works extensively with his foundation 99 Wayz 2 Win. His foundation focuses on assisting in the development of disadvantage youth by connecting them with non-parental adults who can provide them with support and guidance.
The 99 Wayz 2 Win Foundation host many programs and activities for at risk youth including mentoring foster children through his Youth in Need program and 99 Wayz 2 Win Mentoring program that mentors to at risk youth in the Atlanta area that reside at The Bridge (a residential treatment facility in Atlanta).
The foundation also host two football camps during the summers including the Bayou All-Star Football Camp in his home town of Baton Rouge, LA and also the Atlanta All-Star Football Camp that was co-sponsored by the Pi Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, INC.
Wiley is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in pre-physical therapy and a master’s degree in sports administration and currently resides in Lawrenceville, Ga. with his wife.
The 2006 SIAC Football Kick-Off Luncheon will feature all ten of the SIAC Head Football Coaches, players and Athletic Directors from each school. The luncheon will consist of comments from each head coach and Athletic Director about the upcoming season .
