CIAA Preseason Football Roundup: BSU, FSU Tabbed As Division Favorites; NCCU’s Warren Projected As Player Of The Year

PETERSBURG, Va. — The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its Preseason All-Conference team this past Thursday at the Football Press Conference and Luncheon, held on the campus of Virginia State University.

The team, chosen by the CIAA Football Coaches Association, is highlighted this year by three of the top passers in Division II football, quarterbacks Adrian Warren of North Carolina Central University, Jonathan Autry of Fayetteville State University, and Jermonty Kimbrough of Shaw University.

Warren, a 6-5, 215, senior from Raleigh, NC, has passed for 4,633 career yards and 47 career touchdowns and was named 2004 CIAA MVP.

Autry, a 6-0, 230, junior from Spring Lake, NC, has thrown for 3,163 yards and 34 touchdowns over his three year career and was named All-CIAA in 2005.

Kimbrough, a 5-11, 186, junior from Mobile, AL has thrown for 5,649 career yards and 41 career touchdowns.

Bowie State University led the team with seven selections, while defending champion North Carolina Central University garnered six picks. Elizabeth City State University finished out the top with three selections.
