Aggie Women Win In Volleyball

GREENSBORO, N.C.—NC A &T Lady Aggie volleyball team continued their winning ways by defeating High Point University 3-1 (30-25, 15-30, 33-31, 30-23).The teams split the first pair of games, which led to the all-important Game 3. N.C. A&T jumped out to an 11-4 lead, but allowed High Point to tie the game at 14. Brenden Chatman took over from that point, notching three kills and assisting on four kills by Arlene Mitchell. Chatman’s third kill saved game point, tying the contest at 31-31. After a Panther error, Aundia Gray smashed one of 13 aces the Aggies converted in the match, to give N.C. A&T the 33-31 win.In Game 4, N.C. A&T broke open a 20-20 tie with an ace and a pair of kills from Mitchell. Ashley Marsh closed out the match by putting a blocked ball into the open court for the 3-1 victory. The win gave the Aggies (5-5) their fifth win in their last six matches after an 0-4 start.

Chatman tied her career best of 13 kills and nine digs to lead the Aggies. She also set 26 assists and served a pair of aces on the night. Mitchell also turned in a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. Lauren Walker led all defenders with 19 digs. Jamie Kaufman led High Point (4-5) with 13 kills and 17 digs. Michelle Feiser finished with 12 kills and 39 assists.

N.C. A&T returns to action in the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Sept. 15-16 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Aggies will host Bethune-Cookman in an MEAC matchup on Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.
