In the event of a tie for the division championship, the following procedures will be used to break all ties to determine the SWAC Football Championship Game representative.

A. TWO-TEAM TIE

1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.

2. Each team’s record vs. the team occupying the next highest position in the final regular-season standings, continuing down through the standings (divisional and then non-divisional) until one team gains an advantage.

a. When arriving at another pair of tied teams while comparing records, use the head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.

b. If the tied teams do not play each other, use each team’s record vs. common opponents (divisional and then non-divisional) until one team gains and advantage.

c. If the teams remain tied, a coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee will give one team the advantage.

3. Coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee if the two tied with the highest position in the standings remain tied.

B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE

1. Head-to-head results among the tied teams.

2. (Once the ties have been reduced to two teams and then go to the two-team tie-breaker format.)

3. Each team’s record vs. the team occupying the next highest position in the final regular-season standings, continuing down through the standings (divisional then non-divisional) until one team gains an advantage.
